While designing the logo
for my first rock band,
I realized I enjoyed design.
Before that, I wanted to be

A 1992's Kid

Born and raised by my grandparents in São Paulo, because since I was 7
I have been an orphan.

In my teenage years, I discovered that I enjoyed rock,
especially System of a Down. I listened to it a lot, really a lot.
I wanted to learn to sing the lyrics accurately, and this obsession made me
learn English on my own, without even realizing it.

When I finished school in 2010, I still didn't know what I wanted in life.
I spent 2011 just studying music, my passion.

Small Carlos in 2000's

Since I liked drawing, I chose to study design in college—without really knowing what I’d do with it. But that turned out to be a great decision because it led me to a photography studio, where I started working as a photo editor. That was my first professional experience with design, back in 2012.

While my classmates were still studying, I had already immersed myself in the job market, learning all sorts of cool tricks in Photoshop. That experience made me leave college to focus on photo editing and photography full-time.

Even though I was working with design and photography, my dream was to make a living from music. That’s why, in 2013, I started my first rock band.

What I didn’t expect was how much I would enjoy creating the band’s logo. That was the first spark that would eventually bring me back to the world of design years later.

But I was still intimidated by design—it seemed so complex. In 2015, I got an offer to teach guitar and acoustic guitar at a local music school, and I took it.

For a while, I balanced my career between photography and teaching music.

The turning point came in 2020, during the pandemic.
I was working as a photographer, but with events canceled, I
had no way to sustain my household.

My only option was to face my fears and return to studying design—something I had always liked but found overwhelming.

During that time, I even had to work as a food delivery cyclist to help support my family.

After many attempts, I landed a job at an advertising agency.
For the first time, I was working full-time as a designer,
which allowed me to expand my skills.
That same year, I discovered UX/UI and decided to dive into the field.

Now, I’ve been a Product Designer for five years, with three years of experience working for a U.S.-based company.
I’ve specialized in e-commerce through the Baymard Institute and run a YouTube channel with over 2,000 subscribers.

In 2024 I delivered a speech in English to the business team and the CEO of the company I work for today.
